Our Mission
“America is a society based around sustained ethnocidal division, therefore all of us are indoctrinated by the language and philosophy of ethnocide. If we are to create the equitable, sustainable future we need, we must cultivate new words, language and philosophies to get us there.” — Barrett Holmes Pitner
The Sustainable Culture Lab (SCL) is a cultural think tank committed to combatting and raising awareness of ethnocide -- the killing of culture, while keeping the people -- and the fostering of Eǔtopian spaces.
Our work focuses on elevating the cultural discourse by including the language of Eǔtopia (pronounced: ev-topia) and ethnocide into our conversations on racial equity, social justice, environmentalism, and more. We do this through our written and published work, art, activism, podcasts, events, products, consultings and trainings, and reports.
As a cultural think tank, the goal of our work is to both influence policy by working with legislators and decision-makers, and to also impact culture at a grassroots level through our events, words, and cultural offerings.
To learn more about the work, philosophy, and vision of SCL, watch this great interview with Barrett Holmes Pitner, our Founder and Philosopher-in-Chief.
Barrett Holmes Pitner, founder of the Sustainable Culture Lab, explains how culture has been destroyed in America through a concept called "ethnocide."
